I do not write short stories very often, even my fanfic tends to run long these days! But I have written a few things over the years that you might enjoy.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: What, a full novel? FOR FREE???? Yes! At least for now! The story is fully written but I am posting is serially on several platforms for free. Description: Mark runs a bar in the free territory known as the Margin, outside of the war zones ripping the rest of the world apart. He’s not running from anything, least of all the memory of his former lover Duncan, a soldier who left him flat for unknown reasons two years earlier. They had been set to leave the occupied city of Marigolt together in a dangerous run for the Margin, but Duncan stood Mark up at the railroad station with just a short hand written note asking forgiveness. Mark runs his bar apolitically, but that all changes when the revolutionary and underground fighter Dr. Alistair Henri walks into his bar with his consort and bodyguard Duncan St. Quire on his arm. What price will each man pay for Duncan’s love? And can Duncan ever be at peace with his own warring allegiances?
AUTHOR’S NOTE: Clever readers will pick up on the fact that this story is roughly based on the classic movie Casablanca because it is! I love that movie! So it’s a bit of fanfiction, sort of? However it is different in some important ways, and I hope you like the take I did on the beloved story.
Genre: M/M paranormal Guardsmen’verse romance; short story (5k words)
Description: A year after the calamitous showdown with his kidnapper, Protector Elijah Parker begins a brand new chapter in his life. His Handler Greg Lademar is there to support him but Parker is still haunted by the ghosts of his past.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: This is a SEQUEL to the novel, Parker’s Sanctuary!!! It won’t make a lot of sense if you have not read that story first. That said, I wanted to give my boys a bit of follow up. The thing is, the book’s working title was just “Parker” and I was fit to be tied for a better one. Eventually it hit me that Greg’s house had become his sanctuary, so that’s what the title became, just in time for the epiloge in the novel (IYKYK). It seemed fitting to show just how they build Parker’s new life with Greg, and well, here we are!

Description:Toby doesn’t figure a musician will make a good housemate, but his new tenant Dakota keeps his guitar practice quiet. Soon Toby finds himself enjoying the handsome man’s company, but when he finds out Dakota is gay and interested in him, Toby isn’t sure he wants to mess up the housing arrangement with sex. It’s been a long time since Toby’s gotten physical with anyone, and he’s not sure he has room for a relationship in his life.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: Another short story from the dark ages of my publishing career! I cleaned it up and expanded it a bit in 2017, so now I think it’s a much better read. While it’s not based on actual people or situations, it was informed by a time in my life when I was sharing a room in what was basically a “flop house” for disenfranchised GenX losers. Oh, those were the (terrible!) days…
Genre: M/M contemporary romance; short story (k words)
Description: Forty-something Dan wants to reconnect with his college roommate and best friend, so he agrees to attend Craig’s family reunion. He doesn’t expect to connect with anyone else… but he finds himself attracted to his temporary roommate, Craig’s gorgeous, younger cousin Jeff. And according to Craig, Jeff wants to connect with Dan too.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: Believe it or not, this was my first published story! The publisher had put out a call for short stories and one of my fandom friends insisted that I submit something! It’s a bit rough around the edges but I love the premise and often think about revisiting and expanding it. Would you read it if I did?
